DAMSYIK - Helikopter-helikopter tentera terus membedil pusat bandar Aleppo semalam ketika tentera Presiden Bashar Al-Assad bersiap sedia untuk menggempur pemberontak di bandar raya kedua terbesar Syria itu.
Menurut sumber pemberontak yang dikenali sebagai Tentera Pembebasan Syria (FSA), pertempuran yang bakal berlaku akan menentukan hidup mati mereka di Aleppo, bandar strategik di Syria selain ibu kotanya, Damsyik.
Perkembangan tersebut didedahkan oleh Pertubuhan Pemerhati Syria Untuk Hak Asasi Manusia yang mengumpul maklumat mengenai kebangkitan rakyat negara itu menentang pemerintahan Bashar sejak 16 bulan lalu.
"Helikopter-helikopter tentera mengebom daerah Salaheddine di Aleppo," kata pertubuhan itu menerusi satu kenyataan e-mel.
"Pertempuran ganas turut berlaku di satu lagi daerah, Sakhour," tambah kenyataan tersebut.
Perang menguasai Aleppo yang dihuni 2.5 juta penduduk itu merupakan ujian penting buat Bashar selepas rejimnya mengerahkan segala kekuatan tentera untuk menawan semula bandar raya utama itu dan Damsyik.
Setakat ini, kedua-dua belah pihak masih belum dapat menguasai bandar raya berkenaan.
Dalam pada itu, kumpulan pemerhati berkenaan memberitahu, tiga pejuang pemberontak terbunuh dalam beberapa pertempuran di Aleppo semalam.
Menurutnya, seramai 160 orang dilaporkan terbunuh di Syria kelmarin dengan angka kematian keseluruhan di negara berkenaan kini meningkat kepada sekitar 18,000 orang.
Kumpulan pemerhati itu turut menyiarkan klip video menunjukkan asap tebal menjulang ke udara dari beberapa blok apartmen di Aleppo semalam dengan bunyi tembakan jelas kedengaran.
