Thousands attend PM's open house
Thousands thronged the Prime Minister's official residence in Putrajaya on Sunday to celebrate the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his family.
PUTRAJAYA: Thousands thronged the Prime Minister's official residence in Putrajaya Sunday to celebrate the first day of Hari Raya Aidilfitri with Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his family.
Thousands of people started lining up outside Seri Perdana as early as 9am, coming from all over the country and even from overseas to attend the Prime Minister's annual open house here.
Najib and his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor started greeting the people at 11am, and were accompanied by Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein.
Also in attendance were former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamed as well as Barisan Nasional leaders such as MCA president Datuk Seri Dr Chua Soi Lek and MIC president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel.
National Olympian Datuk Lee Chong Wei was swamped by supporters and fans when he arrived, with many asking for photographs with him.
The event had drawn some 100,000 people by the end of the day.
Najib also made time to hold a teleconference with Malaysians overseas to extend his wishes.
